Genetically modifying the economy: Cryptocurrensies as units of account
Dick Bryan challenges here the traditional notions of money by exploring how cryptocurrencies, particularly through their “unit of account” function, can drive social and economic transformation beyond capitalism by “genetically modifying” the economy’s underlying principles. It introduces three dimensions of units of account, demonstrating how they can be designed to measure and value activities based on social benefit rather than profit, and how distributed networks can collectively define what constitutes “Social Value” through reciprocal staking.
